I’ve always been the type of person who has taken pretty good care of myself. I consider myself a healthy eater. I try my best not consume a lot of processed foods, avoid fast food, sodas. If I want a special treat, I’m good at making it at home; hello Chocolate Chip Banana Nut Bread. I used to be an avid hiker and still am for the most part. I did Yoga throughout my 3 pregnancies and is one of my favorite ways to be less stressful, relax and feel more centered. Yoga has helped reduce my anxiety and improved my quality of life. I love Down Dog App.
After having 3 kids under the age of 3, I lost myself. I focused on being a mom, doing house chores, running errands, and being a wife. I forgot about me for a minute… Normally I need at least 30 minutes to recharge and do something I love to do that makes me feel good. Realizing I didn’t need a week vacation away from my children (although that would be amazing). Going to Starbucks ordering a flat white and going to the beach to enjoy my coffee is all I need. The point is that a break might look different for everybody. I’ve looked for ways to find time for me. Others might be single moms or parent. If you’re exhausted take a 10 minute timeout. It helps to put the kids to bed 10 minutes early.
My personal favorite: Setting boundaries with my children and husband that I need that break whether it’s weekly or monthly. Reading a book or even listening to audible right before bed or walking for 15 minutes always calms my anxiety. Get your partner or family to help with nighttime routine. Be open to accept help and don’t forget to give yourself some GRACE at the end of the day.
Things I can control
- How I treat myself and my body
- How I react to people and situations
- Where I give my time, energy, and attention
- How I speak to and treat others
- The people I choose to surround myself with
- The content I consume
- What I do with my spare time
- How I express my thoughts
Final words
Someone once said to me. If the relationship between you and who you really are; is primary to you, if feeling good matters most to you then everything else will fall into place. Choose you, I’m not saying this happens overnight but if you are reading this then try it even if it’s a bit scary. Falling in love with yourself is also kinda of beautiful. The best and hardest journey of acceptance I’ve ever been on for sure!
What are some of the ways you get to fall in love with yourself? Please comment below, I would love to hear from you.
