Simple and Mindful Morning Routine

Winter is almost here… As a mom of 3 little babies, I was feeling a bit lost. Waking up in the middle of the night, breastfeeding, and taking care of 3 kiddos all by myself. The days are long, but time is going fast. All this running around was taking a toll on my body & soul. I’ve talked about Niko pursuing a Master’s Degree full-time on my Instagram. All while he’s transitioning from one role to another with his job. Time for myself was pretty much non-existent. One day I woke up and I had to reevaluate my everyday routine. I decided to dedicate a little time to myself each morning. Making these small changes in my morning routine has been the best for my mental health. I lay down to sleep and look forward to waking up.
Hello me time!
- I start by waking up 30-45 minutes before my family, most days I wake up with the rays of the sun.
- If I’m the last one up, I’ll make my bed and let all of the natural light in, the sun makes me feel so good.
- I have a morning playlist that helps me relax, this other playlist is pretty awesome too.
- Deep breathes (I’ll do a few inhale/exhale), shower, apply my reef-safe sunscreen and my favorite moisturizer by Osea Malibu. I also apply a bit of light make up by Beauty Care Natural + put myself together.
- But first coffee… turn on the stove and bring some hot water to a boil, a cup of homemade coffee brewed the old fashioned way is the only way to go sometimes. I love the Chemex Pour-Over Glass Coffeemaker.
- While I patiently wait for my coffee, I’ll reset and restart my body with a glass of warm water with lemon and write down my affirmations for the day.
- Read for about 15 minutes (currently reading 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand) or practice yoga for also 15 minutes. Here are my all-time favorite books.
- Turn on my phone and go through emails. My phone goes on sleep mode from 10 pm until 8 am.
- Start breakfast and family time begins.
- Enjoy another delicious cup of coffee.
ENDING MY DAY with GRATITUDE
Keep in mind that is not every day I have the luxury to do this. Life is getting easier with all 3 kids sleeping through the night. I try really hard to enjoy my simple and mindful morning routine, but life sometimes is unpredictable. Hope these little changes can help you jump start your day. Remember to be gentle with yourself and love yourself first. This will benefit your mental state and be ready to tackle your day and take care of others.
